Beaches
The beaches of Kythira are a true paradise for nature lovers. Located in the Ionian Sea off the southwest coast of Greece, the island offers a breathtaking variety of beaches, each with its own unique charm.
Kythira is therefore the perfect place for a beach holiday, where you can enjoy the clear sea as well as fully experience the natural beauty of the island.
Sparaggario
In the southern part of Kythera, very close to Kapsali Bay, you will find one of the island’s most distinctive sandy beaches. Very popular, especially in recent decades with nudists, this beach is accessible from Kapsali only by sea.
Chalkos
With its pebbles and turquoise waters, this popular beach is located a few kilometers from Kalamos. It is well-organized, with a canteen and a large parking area.
Komponada
Located in the eastern part of the island, it is very easily accessible. The beach is very popular because of its crystal-clear water. It is one of the larger beaches in Kythira and has a canteen.

Melidoni
Clear water and sand with small pebbles, combined with a spectacular view of Chytra. Visitors will find a canteen here, known for its legendary beach parties. This small beach is located in the southwest of the island and can be reached by car via a dirt track from Drymonas.
Fyri Ammos – Kalamos
The name comes from the purple pebbles, which give the water a variety of colors depending on the time of day and the angle of the light. It’s one of the larger beaches in Kythera. A small section of the beach is equipped with a canteen, sun umbrellas, and loungers.

Kaladi
A picturesque beach with crystal-clear, turquoise water and grey pebbles. Arguably the most beautiful and most photographed beach on Kythera. It’s located in the eastern part of the island, near Paleopoli. A dirt road leads to a parking area, and over 120 steps descend to the beach. There’s no beach bar, so bring your own food and drinks.

Paleopoli
The largest beach on Kythera, located on the island’s east side. Even in August, it remains quiet and peaceful. This beautiful, expansive beach consists of a mixture of sand and pebbles of varying sizes. Towards Avlemonas, you’ll find a beach bar and sun umbrellas.

Diakofti
With its white sand and shallow turquoise water, this beach is ideal for children of all ages. Visitors will find many tavernas serving fresh fish and traditional Greek dishes. The stranded ship “Navagio,” a popular tourist attraction, is not far from here.

Kakia Lagada
The very well-organized beach is also known for the “Barbarossa Days” (Pirate Games), a beach volleyball tournament. It’s a great place for relaxed swimming with views of the Peloponnese coast. It’s also known for its beach bar and summer parties.
Fournoi
Clear water and grey pebbles create an idyllic landscape that offers peace and relaxation. Immerse yourself in the deep blue of the sea and the beautiful music drifting from the nearby canteen (jazz, soul, etc.), and let your soul drift away. You can reach the beach on the road from Karavas to Platia Ammos. Before reaching Platia Ammos, a signpost points right to the beach.
Kalami
On the west side of Kythera, past the village of Mylopotamos, head towards the church of Agia Orphani, where you park. Follow the dirt track that leads to the beach. A rope leads down to the exotic beach with its blue water and sand. Despite the difficult access, it’s very popular.
